During the period that new supervillains were emerging in the Iberian Peninsula, Doctor Khan Cibelius had his own plans. He knew better than anyone, even better than the Mist himself, that he had multiple personalities throughout Spain. And not only had he located them all through his organized crime empire, but he had found a way to regroup them and store that energy. It had to do with a mystical artifact and the Emilianense glosses that had given Miguel Montero his powers. But in the case of the first, it was more about the name of the psychiatrist himself: the goddess Cybele.

Among many myths, the goddess Cybele was known as a protector of the Earth. Really the beholder of the Earth keys that in reality had to do with an element that was not even in the periodic table. And, nonetheless, it had been discovered only in Madrid by a Spanish alchemist during the Spanish Inquisition. Not only did it outperform coal and oil as fuel sources, but it also had large electromagnetic properties. Just as it was an element that affected the human psyche. The alchemist who discovered it ended up committing suicide. And those who followed his work and experimented with the mineral were ultimately consumed by madness. Since it was a very religious time, they considered this mineral to be the Demon Stone. Those who had come into contact with it, were eliminated. Even the religious parties who volunteered to get rid of the mineral. Having eliminated what was extracted and its hosts, the rest that was confined to a specific place in Madrid, was cursed by the Holy Inquisition. To show its evil to the world and as a warning that the faithful should stay away from there, a pagan symbol was placed over the covered chasm; a small statuette of the goddess Cybele. Many years later the fountain of Cybele was built as a tribute to that statuette (without knowing the history behind it). An avid student of the occult, Doctor Cibelius found the story and went in search of the mineral.

Knowing that it was radioactivity related and that he had to dig without the Spanish authorities knowing about it, he built a radiation suit and dug from a restaurant that he used as a front for his criminal business. He managed to get to the ore and extracted it without anyone discovering it. It was a red geode with its center full of amber crystals. In the name of Spain and being a Spanish element, he called the element iberilium. Doctor Cibelius was very diligent and cautious, recognizing the iberilium potential and taking all necessary precautions to avoid being affected by it in his experiments. He was right about the radiation and kept studying the element using specialized suits. To the point that it never affected him. On top of that, he had learned to control it as an energy source. And, above all, to store the great power of its archenemy, the Mist.

He built a Machine called Magna Mater that processed the iberilium and manipulated the psychic powers for him to redirect and control them at his convenience. Before trying it on the Mist, he made an experiment using Magna Mater to control soccer fans who bathed in the fountain of Cybele after a recent Real Madrid victory. He used the large iberilium ore reserve that still existed under the fountain. The result was somewhat of a controlled madness, where Doctor Cibelius guided the fans to commit his personal crimes. Content with the result, he used Magna Mater against the Mist, unifying his personalities at a subconscious level ... in Frenzy.

LA IMPLACABLE NIEBLA # 8

FRENESÍ

Durante el período que surgían nuevos supervillanos en la península Ibérica, el Doctor Khan Cibelius tenía sus propios planes. Sabía mejor que nadie, incluso que la propia Niebla, que tenía múltiples personalidades en toda España. Y no sólo las había localizado todas a través de su imperio de crimen organizado, sino había encontrado la manera de reagruparlas y almacenar esa energía. Tenía que ver con un artefacto y las glosas Emilianenses que le habían dado a Miguel Montero sus poderes. Pero en el caso de lo primero, estaba relacionado al nombre del propio psiquiatra: la diosa Cibeles.

Entre muchos mitos, la diosa Cibeles había sido relacionada como protectora de la Tierra. En realidad la portadora de las llaves de la Tierra que en el mundo real tenía que ver con un elemento que no se encontraba en la tabla periódica. Y, no obstante, había sido descubierta sólo en Madrid por un alquimista español en el período de la Inquisición Española. No sólo superaba al carbón y al propio petróleo como combustible, sino que también disponía de grandes propiedades electromagnéticas. Así como era un elemento que afectaba a la psique humana. El alquimista que la descubrió se acabó suicidando. Y aquellos que siguieron su trabajo y experimentaron con el mineral acabaron perturbados. Puesto que se trataba de una época muy religiosa, consideraban dicho mineral la piedra del Demonio. Quienes habían entrado en contacto con ella, fueron eliminados. Incluso los patriarcas que se presentaban voluntariamente para deshacerse del mineral. Habiendo sido eliminado lo que se había extraído, el resto que se confinaba a un sitio concreto de Madrid, fue maldecido por la Santa Inquisición. Para mostrar su maldad al mundo y como advertencia que los fieles debían alejarse de ahí, se colocó un símbolo pagano sobre su único caudal; una pequeña estatuilla de la diosa Cibeles. Muchos años después se construyó la fuente de Cibeles como tributo a esa estatuilla (sin saberse la historia que había detrás). Ávido estudiante del ocultismo, el Doctor Cibelius descubrió la historia y fue en busca del mineral. 

Sabiendo que se trataba de una especie de radiactividad y que debía excavar sin que se enterasen las autoridades españolas, construyó un traje de radiación y, ocultándolo tras un traje de minero, cavó desde un restaurante que tenía a su nombre como tapadera. Logró llegar hasta el mineral y lo extrajo sin que nadie lo descubriese. Era una geoda roja con el centro lleno de cristales ambarinos. En honor a España y tratándose de un elemento propiamente español, lo llamó iberilio. El Doctor Cibelius fue muy diligente y cauto, reconociendo el potencial del iberilio y tomando todas las precauciones necesarias para no ser afectado por el mismo en sus experimentos. Había acertado con la radiación y seguía estudiándolo utilizando trajes especializados. Al punto que nunca llegó a afectarle. Encima de eso, había aprendido a controlarlo como fuente de energía. Y, sobre todo, para almacenar el gran poder de su archienemigo, la Niebla. 

Construyó una Máquina llamada Magna Máter que procesaba el iberilio y manipulaba los poderes psíquicos para redirigirlos y controlarlos a su conveniencia. Antes de intentarlo con la Niebla, hizo un experimento utilizando Magna Máter para controlar a unos hinchas que se bañaban en la fuente de Cibeles tras una victoria reciente del Real Madrid. Y utilizó la gran reserva de iberilio que seguía existiendo debajo de la fuente. El resultado fue una especie de locura controlada, donde el Doctor Cibelius guiaba a los hinchas para cometer crímenes. Contento con el resultado, utilizó Magna Máter contra la Niebla, unificando sus personalidades a un nivel subconsciente… en Frenesí.
