Miguel Montero is a native of Madrid, Spain. He had a
very rough childhood. His father is also from from Madrid and his mother from Romania.
They quarreled often. His mother, in particular, was unfaithful to him.
Something that lead to his father beating her and, subsequently, end with his departure. After the divorce of his parents, Miguel's mother had to raise
him alone. In the bad sense. Not only was she absent nor had a special
connection with him, but also her relationships with several men went on throught his childhood and later teen years. So Miguel
never had an authentic father figure. Nor did he see his real father again.
As a teenager, he had become self-sufficient. He
took several simple jobs to pay off his mother’s debts whom he still lived
with. He switched from one job to another. The same thing happened with his College studies. He couldn’t seem to find a career with which he was
completely at ease. And he realized that it was the same dilemma for everything
in his life. But finally he found meaning when reaching his fifth failed career
of History. Specifically, the Power of Words. How simple concepts such as
"democracy", "nation" and "freedom" could change everything. And, for that reason, he
decided to become a philologist.
At the same time he found a job in the paper industry.
They paid him well. He often thought as himself as a smith and a trafficker of
words. He also met Soledad. The love of his life. She completed him in mind,
body and soul. To the point of leaving behind his tormented family life to move
in with her. The first months were filled with happiness. But it wouldn’t last long...
It started when he was fired from his job. And
a philological obsession captured his attention: the first word in Spanish.
According to his research, he discovered that this word would unleash the
greatest power of all. And within his obsession to find it, he began to fall
into debt and lose everything little by little ... even Soledad, who eventually left
him. Due to his economic situation, he had to rent both free rooms in his
apartment.
His new roommates were called Guillermo and Mirko.
They were the exact opposite. And they argued often. Guillermo wore suits and
worked in a law firm as a debt collector and Mirko worked in bars as a DJ. The
only element in common between them is that neither of them allowed him to
enter their particular bedrooms. But there were some moments where the three went
out partying and had a great time.
But one hellish day he came home only to find that
his two roommates had slept with his beloved Soledad at the same time. This
logically caused Miguel to cut off all communication with the three, yelling
and demanding for them to leave his apartment. He marched furiously through the
streets where he found an advertising dealer who gave him a peculiar flyer. A
psychiatrist named Khan Cibelius who boasted a new therapy system using technology.
Miguel realized had nothing to lose. After hearing his story, the news that
Doctor Cibelius gave him was one he never expected.
He told him that he had a dissociative personality. Better known as Multiple
Personalities. Spawning from an unresolved Oedipus Complex. The inability to act
revenge on his father and possess his mother. His independence was actually a
way to create a resolution with his own fantasy. More than the fact that
Guillermo and Mirko were actually other parts of his own personality, Miguel was
surprised when Doctor Cibelius told him that even Soledad didn’t exist. She was
the Freudian version of his mother that he wanted to capture.
Miguel punched the Doctor with denial and realized he was not even there. It was
just a hologram created by his great technological genius. But the real Doctor
Cibelius followed him with precision. Of such that he called him on Skype just
when he arrived at his apartment. And, contrary to a stereotypical
psychiatrist, he pointed out how "their time was NOT over".
It was then that Cibelius confessed to Miguel that he had the same
obsession as him. He had also searched for the first word in Spanish. But he
had discovered two things that Miguel did not know: 1) where the word actually
was and 2) that only someone with multiple personalities like him could
withstand the power. The mixture of the obsession with the first Spanish word
and noticing that the rooms of his flatmates were empty, made Miguel come to
terms with his disorder and take a bus to Burgos where the first word resided.
Within ruins of an Emilian Monastery. And after finding and pronouncing this
word, a beam of light struck him from several angles to equip him with superpowers
of THE MIST.
Reñían a menudo.
otra vez.
A edad adolescente, se había vuelto
autosuficiente.
totalmente a gusto.
Aunque no duraría mucho tiempo.
Y discutían a menudo. Guillermo
