CITIZENSHIP DISORDER:
CATALONIA
PART 2 OF 6

The reason why Miguel Montero
stopped having a dissociative disorder when he became the Mist, was not because
the same powers healed him. Instead, it expanded his multiple personalities to
several regions of Spain. The original Madrid personality was just one of them.
Reason why his nemesis, Doctor Cibelius, could not identify the rest in the beginning. In the case of Catalonia, his alter ego was called Jordi Reus. He was
fully aware of his Mist powers and his potential as a superhero but he couldn’t
remember his Madrid personality, how he had achieved such powers and nothing
about his previous life until that moment. Jordi lived in Barcelona. He spoke
Catalan fluently and at the native level. He worked as a builder for urban
construction sites. He had no family or girlfriend because of his nonexistent
past. Nor did he have any friends. As cloudy as the Mist itself. All he knew
was that he should use those powers for good. Not just for the sake of helping
people. But, he thought that by fulfilling this task, the answers to all those
questions and gaps in his memory would come to light. As in Madrid, Doctor
Cibelius had his organized crime distributed in Catalonia with his base of
operations in Barcelona. But it wasn’t these petty criminals who would cause
him the greatest of problems.
It had to do with an alien named
Centaur Nox who came from a distant galaxy referred to as Sentes III. He was
exiled from his planet Anura for trying to unify the Alpha race (red face color)
with the Omega race (yellow face color); being the first in the history of the
planet with both features (orange) and both superpowers: positive zone
repulsors (that could regroup molecules for constructs) and negative zone
repulsors ( that could ungroup molecules for disintegration). His preaching for
peace and the fact that he was not an Alpha or Omega, caused his exile. These
qualities also prevented him from being accepted on his planet in his younger
years. His exile by spaceship took him to Madrid where, even in human disguise,
was treated poorly by its natives. He traveled to Barcelona in more humiliation
where, however, the hospitality was completely the opposite. He was well received
by a good family called by last name, Jaume. They fed him, took care of him and treated
him like no one else have ever done in his life. Centaur Nox, who called
himself Xavier Jaume in honor of his new family, integrated perfectly with the
rest of the Catalans, assuming the language and traditions with relative ease.
But, to his surprise, one day he
found that his entire family had been murdered after he came home from the
supermarket. Those responsible were of Madrilenian origin (according to the crime
scene evidence) but he didn't know that it was Cibelius' minions who sought to
settle accounts with his brother and his gambling debts. Little did it matter
to Centuar Nox and Xavier Jaume who, from that moment on, called himself by his
third and ultimately last code name: The Barna Baron.
He shapeshifted to his alien
form with an orange face and white suit. He also had many sharp red-and-yellow strips
that emerged from his back as tentacles. It was indifferent to the Barna Baron
who or why they had killed the only family that ever cared for him. His only
concern was that the culprits were from Madrid and he wanted revenge. Not
against the same mobsters who had executed the crime, but against any foreigner
or Madrilenian in Barcelona at the time. Centaur Nox started a genocide in broad
daylight with his razor-like back strips whilst floating in midair. He used his
superior vision to recognize those who were not Catalans and, first, disintegrated
them with negative repulsor rays expelled from his hands to then rebuild them
genetically as Catalans with positive repulsor rays. And these genetic reconstructions
were not only Catalans, but exact clones of the father, mother, brother and
sister in the Jaume family. Which he also controlled with his powers to
help him perpetuate his nationalist deconstruction. This caught the attention of our
superhero.
The Mist confronted the Barna Baron,
trying to defend the foreign victims in Barcelona. Soon the supervillain
learned, in the same way he analyzed humans, that the Mist was really of
Madrilenian origin and with a certain Catalan mixture that he could not quite identify.
The battle was long and evenly fought but the Mist won in the end mixing his
powers with those of his adversary; specifically, the repulsor rays he used
against him to evaporate him into the atmosphere. This caused the clones of the
Jaume family to disintegrate and that his fake Catalan heritage to ultimately
fade. Despite the genocide, the Mist was praised by both foreigners and native
Catalans who still couldn’t understand what had happened.
LA IMPLACABLE NIEBLA #
3
Hablaba catalán fluidamente y a nivel nativo. Trabajaba
No
